Wjm Kok 1959

Lives in Amsterdam. Works in Amsterdam.

In the work of Wjm Kok, series are a striking recurring phenomenon. Whether it is a row of enlarged pages from a color children's book, graph paper or A4 sheets of aluminum paper. A row of painted tables can be hung vertically as monochromes on the wall. It is a strategy of 'already made' (Marcel Duchamps), but with a remarkably clear addition that is related to painting surfaces. Old and new work do not differ radically with respect to each other, but when you look at his work it looks very radical now. That is interesting. KvG
