In her newest solo exhibition ‘Echoes’ at Bildhalle, Margaret Lansink explores how memories of landscapes change over time. Her images originate in photographs taken during her travels, including in California. Yet they are not literal representations of the places she has visited. She prints her photographs on translucent washi paper and transfers them onto linen. Through painting, Lansink adds new layers to the images, allowing photography and painting to gradually merge: ‘It becomes an object, a memory, something you can gently touch.’ ‘Echoes’ is on view at Bildhalle in Amsterdam until 7 November.
