Folkert de Jong maakt vaak grote en kleurrijke sculpturen en installaties. De Jong is vooral bekend met zijn werken van polyurethaanschuim maar heeft ook gewerkt met heel andere materialen zoals plastic en brons. In de scenes die De Jong schept in zijn installaties, zien we zijn sterke fascinatie voor de psychische en lichamelijke conditie van de mens. Het gaat vaak over grote onderwerpen zoals conflicten in oorlog, politiek, religie en economie, maar het kan ook gaan over onze of zijn eigen innerlijke conflicten.
