Eline Boerma (Culemborg, NL, 1999) graduated from the Utrecht School of the Arts in 2022 and now lives and works in Rotterdam. Boerma's paintings offer the artist's reflections on nature, the body, freedom and materiality. In this way, it comes from memories of landscapes, but it is even more about the research itself, really about painting. It is more something that arises on the canvas, mark-making, than something that it depicts. Intuition, frustration and impulse all play a role, but looking is also very important in the process. Attention and concentration are paid to the nature of each stroke of paint, its impulse, speed and direction. It's the constant search that forces her to keep working, much more than finding a neat solution. The risk of failure is always there and is necessary. However, it is also about letting go and allowing, so that the paintings can emerge naturally within the adventure of the shell
