Cross Collecting
A fascinating dialogue between contemporary art, vintage design, and tribal objects
Galerie Ramakers invites art and design enthusiasts to a special exhibition where diverse collecting fields come together in surprising ways. Under the title “Cross Collecting,” the gallery demonstrates how engaging it can be to combine contemporary art with other collectible objects such as tribal art and vintage furniture.
“Many people collect more than just contemporary or modern art,” says the gallery owner. “This exhibition is inspired by my own collecting practice. For years, alongside contemporary art, I’ve been collecting applied design, pre-war tubular furniture, and tribal art—mainly from Oceania. With Cross Collecting, I want to show how these worlds can naturally and inspiringly enhance one another.”
To bring this vision to life, Galerie Ramakers has invited two special guests:
• Els Verheij of Tribal Design (Amsterdam), presenting a selection of remarkable tribal objects from Oceania.
• Vinz van der Zijden of Hit and Run (The Hague), showcasing a unique collection of design furniture from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.
The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience how different art and design movements can complement and challenge one another within a single space. Cross Collecting invites visitors to take a fresh look at the ways in which art and design interact.
Galerie Ramakers will feature works by among them Ton van Kints, Joost van den Toorn, Reinoud Oudshoorn, Ien Lucas, and OSSIP.
