Maximum Calm is an exhibition of drawings in the form of a digital book, compiled by Marijn van Kreij at the invitation of the gallery. Although the idea for this exhibition arose before the lockdown that began on March the 14th, the corona crisis inevitably sheds new light on the work presented here.
Domestic and dreamlike scenes alternate with works that refer, sometimes obliquely, sometimes explicitly, to the problems and challenges of our time.
The exhibition takes its title from Rory Pilgrim’s LP Maximum Crisis, Maximum Calm, which was recently released on the occasion of his solo show at the Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe. The title song’s lyrics can be found at the end of the publication.
We would like to thank Marijn van Kreij and Rory Pilgrim for the energy and thought that they put into the exhibition, and the participating artists for their wonderful contributions.
In the meantime, the art world is emerging from lockdown, and beginning to reopen its exhibition spaces. All of the drawings featured in the publication are available for viewing in the gallery. Please get in touch to arrange an appointment. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
