Your first reaction upon seeing this work may be a smile, at the thought that this piece of cardboard is actively plotting its escape. But the Belgian artist Peter de Meyer actually framed a protest sign for this work, which suddenly gives the work a different context. As a result, the work refers, in a quiet yet powerful way, to all people who cannot live in freedom at the moment — for which, unfortunately, you don't have to look further than Hungary or Belarus.
