Also, as GalleryViewer’s account manager, Manuela is our point of contact for Dutch and Belgian galleries. In the coming period, she will put together three collections consisting of artworks of up to €500, €1000 and €2000. Today, the second collection consisting of eight works under € 1000. Enjoy!
Since my husband, Oscar van Gelderen, and I rented an apartment in Antwerp for a year, we see a lot of Belgian art. As GalleryViewer’s relationship manager I am in the fortunate position to visit Belgium’s best galleries with the request to join GalleryViewer. There is so much interesting happening in the field of art south of the border that we have decided to expand our range of art with Belgian galleries.
For this collection I am looking for art under €1000 and the offer appears to be much larger than I anticipated. It is therefore hard to make a choice and, consequently, I will limit myself to the motto 'It's a strange, strange world' from the famous 1967 Four Jacks and a Jill song, Master Jack. In this song a miner thanks his boss, Master Jack, for all that he has taught him and gently lets him know that from now on he wants to go his own way and see the world with his own eyes, as strange as it may be. In other words, he expresses his desire to be free. I see the artist as the positive version of "Master Jack" who teaches us a lot, but also leaves us free to see the world, this "strange, strange world" with our own eyes.
