Photogram of parts of Fagus sylvatica
In this monumental C-print, Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky makes nature an active collaborator. Branches and leaves of Fagus sylvatica are laid directly onto the paper as a photogram. No lens, no camera – only light, paper and plant.
The result is a floating pattern of silhouettes that is both a recording and a translation: from the physical to the photographic, from plant to image. In this way, Kovacovsky links the earliest photographic experiments to a contemporary ecological perspective.
