In 2018 Karin van Dam made a journey with Ed Pien through Canada where a.o. they visited the mines of Lethbridge and descended in to a pit dig out in the soil: an installation by Canadian artist Linda Duvall. Once descended into the pit Karin van Dam became fascinated by the micro world of insects, living there. Caterpillars had made pathways in the walls of the pit, hence the overall title for these drwaings: The Path of The Caterpillar. This drawing shows white pointed forms that are complemented by rounder elongated forms held together with paperclips that stick out of the drawing.
The work is preserved in a boxframe to house the protruding parts of the drawing.
