King George who had been looking forward to the official unveiling of “the Circle '', here in the heart of the BNRC
(British National Research Center), was delighted to see the object shrouded behind a small stage curtain.
He loved putting off the element of surprise until the last minute.
He had carefully prepared his speech and hoped this would help the nation in this time of despair.
The grandeur of his speech lay in the sparkling but solemn approach of the phenomenon of ‘The Circle’. He could hardly wait to start his declamation.
‘In light of the progressive developments of the spiritual and economic well-being of all my peoples, both at home and overseas, we are now on the verge of unprecedented possibilities. Our scientists have done a remarkable achievement in a very short time. The high aim and the drive to accomplish this has ultimately led to this magnificent result:
The Circle.
I therefore hereby declare the Circle as officially recognized. A part of the British Empire and an essential element of national civilization much appreciated by its inhabitants and many beyond our borders.
The Circle….! It will bring us economic enrichment, mental health and, ultimately, overall prosperity!’
George VI
