Most galleries temporarily close their doors during the holiday season. In Amsterdam, during the dark days of December, the lights come on for the collaborative project 'When the Lights Go Out.' Even when the galleries are closed, you can admire fascinating light sculptures, films, or specially illuminated objects from the street. This offers the opportunity for a unique evening stroll filled with light artworks.
Starting from 16 December at 6:00 PM, fifteen Amsterdam galleries in fourteen spaces will jointly organise the very first edition of 'When the Lights Go Out,' which will be inaugurated with a glass of mulled wine. The walk along all of the participating spaces covers a total of 8000 steps. From 16 to 23 December, the artworks will be illuminated after the galleries close at 6:00 PM, and from 23 December until 6 January, all artworks will be visible throughout the day.
