The oeuvre of Leen Van Tichelen (°1981, lives and works in Ghent) translates her confrontation and feeling of reality in a multitude of materials: paper, wood, concrete, plaster, textile.

In her drawings, collages, installations and work in situ, she has developed a visual language in which both fragility and weight predominate and often carry out an inherent dialogue.

The creation of the work, being present and that which is not yet encompassed in form and matter. Deliberate movements that are executed within a frame that she determines herself. A repetitive game that is played of adding, removing, stacking and connecting. Multiple compositions that are brought together in the name of a series.

Van versteende vleugels tot zachte lasten, Leen Van Tichelen en de kunst van de balans

Leen Van Tichelen beweegt zich als kunstenaar door een landschap waarin materie en psyche elkaar subtiel aanraken. Haar werk, vaak gecreëerd met gerecycleerde materialen en tastbare structuren, onderzoekt op intieme wijze de spanning tussen vrijheid en beperking, tussen zwaarte en lichtheid. Binnen de muren van Settantotto Gallery presenteert ze met de expo A CONATIVE INTERACTION een oeuvre dat niet alleen uitnodigt om te kijken, maar vooral om te voelen—om het gewicht van zowel het fysieke als het mentale te ervaren. Wat volgt is een reflectie op de fascinerende reis door de menselijke conditie die Van Tichelen voor ons blootlegt.
