Cig Harvey is een in Groot-Brittannië geboren kunstenares en schrijfster die in Maine (VS) woont. Zij werkt met groot formaat kleurenfotografie en poëzie en zoekt naar het magische in het dagelijks leven. Ze gebruikt zowel beelden als taal om zintuiglijke ervaringen te verkennen en het alledaagse te verheffen. Rijk aan impliciete verhalen, diep geworteld in de natuurlijke wereld, is haar werk gewijd aan het onderwerp wat het is om te voelen.
Ze heeft vier uitverkochte boeken gepubliceerd: You Look At Me Like An Emergency (Schilt Publishing, 2012); Gardening At Night (Schilt Publishing, 2015); You An Orchestra You A Bomb (Schilt Publishing, 2017); Reveal (met Andrea Modica & Debbie Fleming Caffrey; Yoffy Press, 2020); en Blue Violet (Monacelli / Phaidon, 2021).
Ze was te zien in Ross McDermott's documentaire Return To Cuba - In The Footsteps of Walker Evans (2016), over haar poging met collega-fotografen Mark Klett, Abe Morell, Sam Abell en Greg Gorman om de voetsporen en foto's van Walker Evans in Cuba terug te vinden. Ze is momenteel het onderwerp van een nieuwe korte film van River Finlay die in 2022 in première gaat op het Camden International Film Festival.
