Epic of the Mind by Laurence Aëgerter
Specially created for the exhibition ‘Epic of the Mind: at the crossroads of care and mind’, the versatile French-Dutch artist Laurence Aëgerter produced the monumental tapestry 'Epic of the Mind'.
This impressive piece, measuring no less than 38.5 meters wide and 3 meters high, is a tribute to the wondrous human mind with its wealth of imagination and its vulnerability. Documents and objects from the historical collection of the Museum van de Geest play a significant role.
Like a modern Bayeux Tapestry, the work takes you on a journey of discovery. This journey is an imagination of the mind as if from a dream, unfolding against a backdrop of abstract landscapes that blend into each other, sometimes serene, sometimes dramatic or ecstatic.
