Ken’ichiro Taniguchi - Hecomi Study
Ken'ichiro Taniguchi works and lives in Berlin and Sapporo, and is now presenting a new series of his 'hecomi' sculptures.
Taniguchi's work strongly focuses on the relationship between nature and the urban environment, integrating elements of Japanese aesthetics into his artworks. His sculptures are often made from materials such as PVC and metal, and are crafted with precision and care, emphasizing both the fragility and strength of the surroundings.
'Hecomi' refers to cracks and damaged areas caused by natural forces on man-made surfaces such as roads and walls. While these cracks are often associated with age and dirt, Taniguchi reveals that they can possess surprising, charming, and powerful characteristics.
