Jaap van den Ende is a conceptual painter. After his important systematic works from the 70s and early 80s, he started his fruitful search for connection between figuration and abstraction. In every series he achieves new ways to make extremes merge disregarding hierarchy within a painting. As a young artist, Van den Ende quickly made a name for himself within the movement of the 'fundamental painting' and immediately received international recognition.
