Godecharle’s blurred or extremely detailed black-and-white images have a common denominator: light, a tool he uses to tell as much as possible with as little means as possible. In this minimalist approach, the sunlight, piercing through the foliage during his walks, plays the leading role in a timeless form of non-verbal communication. It is through the light the artist captures in his images that Godecharle lets go of the subject. The mood tied to the moment shines through, hoping to border on something universal that our eyes can not so much register but are able to identify. The easily recognisable image has made way for a visually tangible tonality.
