Jildau Nijboer (1994, NL) is a visual artist based in Groningen. After completing her bachelor’s degree at Minerva Art Academy and her Master’s in Painting at the Frank Mohr Institute, she developed a multifaceted practice that combines painting, site-specific work and projects in public space. She works both in her studio and on location, in the Netherlands and abroad, often responding directly to the context of a place.
Nijboer recently presented new work at Museum Singer Laren, created following her Dooyewaard residency. During this period, she engaged deeply with landscape and painterly tradition, resulting in a nuanced and layered visual language in which observation and imagination converge. This was followed by a residency in Leipzig at the Spinnerei, where her practice expanded through international exchange and a markedly urban environment that contrasted with her earlier research.
Her work has been exhibited at institutions including Museum Belvédère, Museum Singer Laren and Museum Drachten, and is part of several private and corporate collections. Nijboer has received multiple awards and stipends, among them the Bruning Brongers Prize, the George Verberg Stipend, and the Young Talent Award from Museum Belvédère
