The human, in all its forms, intrigues and inspires.
In her work, Jolanda seeks to grasp the inner world of humans. What does the outward appearance reveal about one's inner life? Even a model's pose or a hand can convey emotion. The viewer can find recognition and interpretation through their own emotional baggage.
In my work, the human is a recurring theme.
The portrait as a collection of facial features. The body and hands use a different language. The light that falls on the bone structure. A map of a human life.
Why my fascination?
I look at people to find connection, recognition. The same wishes, desires, fears, and disappointments in life. For me, the human is a source of inspiration in the representation of joy, pain, and the absurdity of human existence.
