Sylvain Patte is a Belgian (°77) artist based in Belgium.
Patte is a visual artist, who previously studied ornamental woodcarving. He later became intrigued by other art disciplines such as dance and design, drawing inspiration from the beauty and balance of movements.
Observing nature and architecture also led him to a particular way of stone carving, where key words such as proportion, strength and proportion are the common thread.
His work, from 2007 onwards, consists of hewn stones in which each sculpture takes on an unlikely form, striking the eye with its malleability, impossible position and balance. His practice and acquired skills in this particular investigation of improbable balance energised his latest work.
He participates in several international symposiums in Belgium, France, Italy, Canada, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, New Zealand, India and China, and his sculptures are exhibited in various cities around the world.
