The installations, objects, paintings and works on paper by Antonietta Peeters are all about tangibility and perception of space. As she plays with various aspects, such as the tension between form and residual form, the denial of perspective and the relevance of texture, her work is inextricably.linked to the tradition of painting. The total situation in her studio, such as stored items, presentations, roaming pieces of wood on which to set paintings, stones that stop papers from blowing away, is the subject of the work of art to be realized. For example, the wooden beams, which are intended to support paintings so that they stay off of the ground, dry and dustfree, are one of Peeters' motives during her working period at Sundaymorning@ekwc. She casts a number of them in plaster moulds using porcelain, and presses porcelain day into wooden moulds. To transfer pieces of wood into clay directly, she drops day onto wooden beams. By twisting and turning the day, the wood is copied and transformed into colourful ceramic blocks. Peeters positions these as spatial elements and as a connection between the paintings of others·, induding her own. Peeters graduated from the St. Joost Academy of Fine Arts in 1990. From 1991 to 1993 she was a participant at De Ateliers.

Antonietta Peeters (NL) explored the atelier of the painter versus the atelier of the sculptor. One theme Peeters worked on was recreating in clay the wooden beams and blocks lying around the painter’s studio to lift paintings from the floor for dry storage. Experimenting with color, she explored their role in relation to paintings, by herself and others. The other theme was to recreate the rocks Peeters uses in her atelier to weigh down her paper walls. It was hard to create the feeling of naturally grown shapes and textures. For the rocks, Peeters took chunks of clay out of the recycle bin. To copy the texture of wood accurately she created moulds, but also threw massive chunks of clay from a great height onto the wooden beams, distorting them while peeling them off.
