Jannie Regnerus (1971) is a writer and visual artist. She debuted with books about her stays in Mongolia and Japan. Her novels, De ent, Het lam and Nachtwriter, are critically acclaimed. The lamb was on the longlist of the Libris Literature Prize and was called the most beautiful novel of the year by Wim Brands. The republication of her novels Het lam and Nachtwriter by Van Oorschot are the harbingers of a new novel that will be published in the late autumn of 2019.
'Spoken, pure and subtle, Regnerus interprets the desperation of a mother with a terminally ill child.' – Trouw
'In a sensitive story, Jannie Regnerus lets things speak.' - **** de Volkskrant
'The attractive thing about The Lamb is precisely that it is so earthly and so steeped in all too human feelings.' - **** NRC Handelsblad
‘Het lam is a small novel, but great literature.’ – Jury report Opzij Literatuurprijs 2014
‘The fact that [Regnerus] knows how to express impressive sensations in a short and concise way in a sensory and crystal clear manner makes her a little master. And, as we know, small masters are often the greatest.' – Rob Schouten, Trouw
“Every sentence, every image has been carefully chosen. (….) The symbolism is as manifest as it is unemphasized. You read past it and you feel it graze. That's what makes this book so intense. Regnerus writes as if she “touches” everything, both her story and her language. In at least two senses: the sensuous and the cautious'. – Bernard Dewulf, The Reactor/Knack
