About Loft Art Gallery
Founded in 2009, Loft Art Gallery has been committed to promoting modern and contemporary African art since its inception. Based in Casablanca, in the trendy Triangle d'Or neighborhood, the gallery has quickly become an essential part of the African contemporary scene. Originally specialized in contemporary and modern Moroccan art, Loft Art Gallery has recently broadened its horizon to include established and emerging artists from the rest of the continent as well as from Europe. Loft Art Gallery has been contributing since its creation to the influence of the Moroccan art scene, by representing leading modern and contemporay artists such as Mohamed Melehi, Farid Belkahia, Mohamed Chebaa,... Myriem, 28, and Yasmine, 25, founded Loft Art Gallery back in 2009, to develop the art scene in Morocco. Today, their original approach has turned them into Moroccan modern and contemporary art leaders: their numerous exhibitions would probably not have had the same impact without the extensive studies they have conducted on the founding principles of the Moroccan modern art period in the 60s. And by doing so, they have enabled the audience to put words on impactful images and helped spread the ideals of the country’s artistic precursors. Loft gallery did not simply launch its business due to a mainstream enthusiasm for arts. Our main mission has always been to unveil the roots of our country to the largest audience possible by supporting modern art pioneers; in parallel, we also thrive to show the face of tomorrow’s local society by promoting emerging talented contemporary artists. The gallery also conducted researches and studies around the Moroccan art history, which led to the edition of the book:"Identité et modernité: Zoom sur les années 60". From the beginning, the gallery has been working in close relations with major global institutions such as the Centre Pompidou (Paris), The Tate Modern (London), the Mathaf (Abu Dhabi), the Haus Der Kunst (Munich), the MAMAC (Nice).
