Nick Ervinck (°1981) is a contemporary Belgian artist whose work includes massive installations, handmade and 3D printed sculptures, ceramics, prints, drawings, computer graphics and animated films.
In 2003, Ervinck graduated from KASK (Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent) with a Master’s degree in Mixed Media. Ever since, he specialized in computer modeling and implemented new 3D techniques. While pushing the possibilities of digital media to their limits, he created new architectural forms that were not achievable up to now.
While developing these technologies, he has been teaching at different Belgian art schools (2004-2012) and returned in 2009 to KASK, Ghent University Collega, as a guest professor. The last decade, he runs his own Laboratory (Studio Nick Ervinck, assisted by half a dozen of collaborators and using the most recent technology of 3D market leaders as Materialise and Stratasys.
His work has been acquired by art collectors around the world and shown in large numbers of solo and group exhibitions. Outside Europe, Ervinck took his first steps with group exhibitions in UNArt Center, Shanghai; MOCA, Shanghai; Axiom, Tokyo; Oya Stone Mine, Tokyo; Northern Arizona University Art Museum, Flagstaff and Chamber, New York.
In 2019, at the request of the City Council of St. Petersburg, Florida, he was commissioned to create a public sculpture in bronze, OLNETOPIA. In 2020, he created ALUNIK for the Shenzhen World Conventions & Exhibition Center in Shanghai. In 2021, a large solo museum exhibition is planned for him in Häme Castle organized by the National Museum of Finland.
