Natasja Alers’s ceramic sculptures are visceral hybrids that explore the internal body. Her specific colour combinations of the “visceral” glazes refer to organs and define how the human body can relate to a sculpture. By pushing and stretching the sculptured body from within, she raises pressure and fragility in the material, and brings about paradoxical feelings in her viewers.

Natasja Alers (1987) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She studied ceramics at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and Fine Arts at the Weissensee KunstHochschule in Berlin.

Deze week biedt een uitgelezen kans om de veelzijdigheid van keramiek te ontdekken: ceramic brussels viert haar tweede editie. De beurs, de grootste internationale kunstbeurs die volledig in het teken staat van keramiek, vindt plaats van 23 tot en met 26 januari 2025, met een exclusieve preview (op uitnodiging) op 22 januari. Na een succesvolle eerste editie in 2024, waar bijna 13.000 bezoekers op afkwamen, keert ceramic brussels dit jaar terug naar de iconische loodsen van Tour & Taxis in Brussel.

in flux / in limbo: between decay and exaltation

When we walk through an exhibition, we often enter a world of transition, a space where artists transcend time and place. In the exhibition in flux / in limbo at NQ Gallery, Natasja Alers and Anne Silverstrand Forest have created a dialogue that balances between the fleeting and the fixed, the formless and the shaped, decay and exaltation. By placing their works side by side, a conversation arises about the state of being, the human body and the tension between matter and spirit.
