Marc Mulders is a painter, watercolorist, photographer and glazier. His work combines different painterly histories; abstract impressionism, natural depiction and spiritual references. The result is a colourful world where boundaries blur; be it in oil paint or glass works.
Mulders is best known for his oil paintings in which he follows the course of nature. He used to paint tulips, irises and roses in the spring and summer; in the autumn and winter he focused on wild animals such as pheasants and hares. He painted both the flowers and the animals ‘from life’. To this end, he set up still lifes in his studio. Since his move to the Baest Estate, former home to monks, his work grew more abstract. The architecture in nature, with all its different rooms, dew, mist, sunshine, backlight, became his leitmotif.
Marc Mulders (1958) attended the Academy for Visual Arts in Breda. He had solo exhibitions at Kunstmuseum Den Haag, De Pont Tilburg, Frans Hals museum Haarlem, Stedelijk museum Amsterdam. Marc Mulders’ work is part of collections at Museum Voorlinden Wassenaar, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen Rotterdam, Vincent van Gogh huis Zundert and De Pont museum Tilburg. He also had solo exhibitions at Galerie Daniel Templon in Paris and Gallery Stux in New York.
