Carel Visser (1928–2015) is regarded as one of the most important post-war sculptors in the Netherlands. Throughout a career spanning more than six decades, he developed a highly diverse body of work, ranging from abstract figurative sculptures to minimalist geometric forms and playful assemblages made from found and natural materials. In addition to sculpture, Visser created collages, drawings, and woodcuts, all reflecting his distinctive sense of composition, structure, and form. His work is held in major collections, including the Rijksmuseum, the Kröller-Müller Museum, Tate Modern, and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.
