Thibault Carlier (b. 1998, Ronse, Belgium) explores the transformative potential of discarded objects and materials found within the urban environment. Treating the city as an extension of his studio, he continuously searches for overlooked fragments that carry traces of their previous existence. Chance and unpredictability play an essential role in his creative process, allowing unexpected forms and meanings to emerge. Through his sculptural practice, Carlier gives new life to materials shaped by decay, renewal, and the passage of time. His work invites viewers to look beyond the surface and reconsider the hidden value of everyday objects, creating a dialogue between past and present, the urban landscape and artistic creation.
Thibault Carlier obtained his Master’s degree in Fine Arts in 2024 and his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 2023, both from LUCA School of Arts, Ghent, BE. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from LUCA School of Arts, Ghent, BE. His work has been presented in several exhibitions, including Sanatorium expo#1, Het Sanatorium, Ronse, BE, De Rampe, De Rampe, Kwaremont, BE, Niet Weggooien!, Gevaertsdreef 01, Oudenaarde, BE, Where Do We Go From Here?, CC De Ververij, Ronse, BE, Pop-in Collect N°2, Merode, Ronse, BE, Grondig, Campo, Ghent, BE, Source Exhibition, Broeke, Ronse, BE, Tortilla Flat, M12, Ronse, BE, Parlevinkers, Espace Intermédiaire, Brussels, BE, and A Collective Collective, Borgerhub, Antwerp, BE.
