Maria Brîneț lives and works in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Sculpture from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, where she is currently in the second year of her PhD studies. Maria’s practice focuses on the reinterpretation of subjective and collective archives, questioning how we can assign value to elusive aspects that embody memory, trauma, or the imperceptible transition from one generation to the next. Using sculpture and installation, the artist adopts an interdisciplinary and conceptual approach, consistently focusing on how the medium influences the message.
