Luis Felipe Ortega (Mexico City, 1966) is an artist with a long carreer experimenting with diverse media such as video, action, drawing, installation, and sculpture. Having started his career as a philosopher, theoretical and literary references have molded his thinking through the years. A decidedly heterogeneous artist, in the 1990s Ortega was part of the independent artist collective in Mexico City called “Temístocles 44” and founded legendary publishing projects such as Casper, a mutating publication that operated as a platform for the references and allegiances of his generation to be heard.

Throughout his career, Ortega has maintained an investigation of media and its relationship to the artistic language. Interested in the infinite trajectory of the horizon line, his work explores the sculptural, temporal, and material conditions of landscape, silence, and emptiness as resources that lead to the possibility of rethinking the contemporary subject.
