Iva Gueorguieva — From 5:30 am to 7:30 am
From 5:30 am to 7:30 am brings together a large body of drawings made by Iva Gueorguieva in the early morning, between 5.30 and 7.30 am. The time frame is precisely defined. Within those two hours, the image remains open.
For Gueorguieva, drawing is an ongoing process. She begins without determining everything in advance. A line can change, be drawn again or stop. Sometimes something unexpected happens in the act of drawing. What emerges can take the image in a new direction.
The body plays an important role in this process. Movement, force and the qualities of the material help determine what happens on the paper. The drawing takes shape through the act of making.
Gueorguieva’s practice moves between drawing, painting, collage and installation. In her work, forms and images remain in motion. They can appear, shift and disappear again.
At Bradwolff & Partners, the drawings are presented as a multitude. No single drawing takes centre stage; instead, attention shifts to the space between the works: repetition and difference, movement and stillness. Together, they form a series of moments within a defined period of time.

Iva Gueorguieva (1974, Sofia, Bulgaria) lives and works in Los Angeles, USA. Her work explores the relationship between painting, drawing, collage and installation, with form constantly shifting and transforming. She has exhibited at institutions including the Benton Museum of Art, UTA Artist Space and LACMA. Her work is held in the collections of MOCA Los Angeles and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Gueorguieva has received, among other awards, the Howard Foundation Grant and the Pollock-Krasner Grant. In 2026, she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.
