Flowstones
Through sensual rather than discursive decisions in her use of materials with ambiguous surfaces, Audrey sparks a powerful metaphysical commentary on how we perceive our material world. She questions what is real and what belongs to representation, ultimately subverting these distinctions. The results are sculptural objects that captivate the senses, instilled with a certain liveliness that contradicts the mechanistic world that digital tools can, at first glance, convey and structure.
The exhibition Flowstones presents her latest in this inquiry. Comprising nine new works that explore the formal territory between vessel and plinth, the series is characterised by a granular, stone-like materiality achieved through sand binder jetting. This 3d printing technology is capable of materializing highly complex geometries. This aesthetic speaks to geological formation – a solidification of digital images – and marks a notable evolution in scale and form, featuring some of her most substantial works to date.
