We’re delighted to announce the solo exhibition of Dirk Vander Eecken. For the second time, his work will be shown in our gallery in Watou, where the autumn light reveals every layer of his paintings.
The fascination of Belgian artist Dirk Vander Eecken with electron microscopy and nanotechnology has underpinned the shift towards layered paintings using thin layers of aerosol paint. In this way he creates carefully composed images that emerge from the structural chaos of science, from floral motifs inspired by the playful frivolity of the Rococo era, from the light that is captured almost monochromatically in the colourful edges of each canvas. In specks of gold and small scratches or smudges of colour a sense of freedom glows.
