First solo show by Mieke Teirlinck with recent oil paintings.
We do not choose where or when we are born. Nor in which home, which culture, or which circumstances we arrive. Those who receive warmth, safety, and love can consider themselves fortunate. For many, it is otherwise.
From the very first day, differences can become grounds for judgment: skin color, gender, origin, disability, orientation. How absurd that chance can divide us, and how painful that it so often leads to exclusion rather than connection.
With Tendresse, artist Mieke Teirlinck invites us to adopt another perspective. Her work breathes vulnerability and gentleness, but also strength. It emphasizes what unites us rather than what separates us. It reminds us that we all, wherever we are in the world, long for the same things: peace, love, and warmth.
Teirlinck’s oeuvre is a quiet yet urgent call to humanity. Through paint and form, she seeks softness, support, and understanding – a tender counterbalance to the harshness of the world.
Thus, Tendresse becomes more than an exhibition: it is an invitation to look with more kindness, to feel with more gentleness, and to come closer together.
