With this title, painter Bart Vandevijvere refers to a basic concept in jazz and improvisational music, among other genres.
Each work and each step within his work forms a link in an endless process that continues to unfold. Through cause and effect, action and reaction, his oeuvre forges its own path. The finish line is never in sight.
Parallels can be drawn between Vandevijvere’s professional attitude and the mindset of certain musicians/composers. They too rummage through a barrel of discoveries and possibilities of all kinds. They explore with a free attitude, but at the same time with a thorough knowledge of the subject matter and instruments.
