Project 2.0 / Gallery is proud to present this phase of Sweet Summer Weeks, featuring new works from Laurien Renckens, Sebastiaan Knot and Thomas Klein Horsman.
Laurien Renckens' new series, Birds of Paradise, grew out of her previous series Telesma, but now also taking inspiration from new scientific discoveries that birds of paradise absorb invisible wavelengths like ultraviolet and re-emit them as visible light. Each artwork in this series is first created out of cardboard and then painted on canvas layer by layer, becoming a presence that radiates its own energy.
Sebastiaan Knot continues his visual investigation of light and space with his new work, creating contrasts of colour and form with which the given space is beautified. Knot is also expanding his expression to sculptural pieces that reflect and refract light, further encouraging viewers to reconsider their understanding of reality, provoking thought and introspection.
Thomas Klein Horsman also delivers striking new abstract sculptures, made of mdf panels and a variety of different plywoods, like poplar, birch and oukemé.Through the use of complementary colour combinations and bright gradients, a dynamic interaction between three dimensional forms and colour occurs.
These new works by Laurien Renckens, Sebastiaan Knot and Thomas Klein Horsman can be seen at Project 2.0 / Gallery. You are warmly invited to meet these three artists during a Meet & Greet on Friday, 29 August from 4 pm.
