Daytripper
Group exhibition featuring Bart Vandevijvere, Catharina Hell, Elvis Borrey and Frank JMA Castelyns
What does it mean to be a daytripper? Someone briefly on the move, open to whatever the journey brings. This exhibition brings together four artists who each, in their own way, travel through ideas, images and memories.
Bart Vandevijvere paints in a continuous flow, with each work responding to the previous one—like links in a chain. He fuses geometry with lyricism, harmony with tension, in a rhythm deeply connected to jazz and contemporary music.
Elvis Borrey uses photographs, videos and audio recordings to explore personal and collective memory. Themes like migration, identity and media imagery run throughout his work, which balances between documentary and imagination.
Catharina Hell searches for what is hidden or unspeakable. Her subtle, post-conceptual practice revolves around language, miscommunication and repetition. She reworks images until new, unexpected meanings emerge.
