Celebrating two woman in lens based Arts :
Tjitske Oosterholt and
Margriet Smulders
during the 10th anniversary of Photo Londen. Booth D15
Tjitske Oosterholt's work emerges from material thinking - a dialogue between matter and language. Through experimental interactions with natural materials and photographic techniques, she explores transience, perception, and humanity's fragile position within ecological flux. Control is surrendered to materiality as time and light succumb to the movement of growth and decay. Humanity is presented as a fragile moment within the ecological flux.
We are proud to reveal Tjitske Oosterholt has made the shortlist for the 2025 Photo London x Nikon Emerging Photographer Award, an initiative launched in 2015 to nurture new talent and spotlight the next generation of photographic voices. Presented in partnership with Nikon, the Award sits at the heart of Photo London’s commitment to supporting lens-based artists with career-defining opportunities.
Margriet Smulders creates theatrical still lifes that explore the possibilities of beauty and chaos. Her floral arrangements—staged on mirrors submerged in water—create ecosystems of play and splendor. The dynamic interactions of color, reflection, and depth construct a floral embodiment of human narratives.
