Solo
Veron Urdarianu
9 February to 16 March 2025
Paintings and sculptures from the studio
Galerie Ramakers proudly presents a major solo exhibition by Veron Urdarianu (1951, Romania), a master of suggestion. His work balances between melancholy and humour, with subtle references to personal and historical themes.
Urdarianu's paintings and sculptures play with perspective and faded colours, giving them a timeless, almost dreamlike quality. Simple motifs - such as mating dogs, a fallen jockey or a Napoleonic soldier - carry deeper, often ambiguous meanings. His layers of paint reflect the decay of his youth under a strict communist regime.
With his architectural models, unfolding houses and painted interiors, Urdarianu forms atmospheres where past, illusions and reality merge. In recent years, he combines painting and sculpture, with disciplines reinforcing each other and adding new dimensions to his work.
This exhibition offers a unique insight into Urdarianu's multifaceted oeuvre, which combines stillness, transformation and a touch of absurdism.
