Bert McLean (1998) has transcended himself in his solo exhibition 'Kent-isch' by, in addition to using waste material on canvas, also making room for emptiness. Nothing has been applied to a sheet of paper of more than three meters long, i.e. neither collage nor a wild stroke of paint has been added. Something he does in abundance in his canvases and wall sculptures. The sheet is untouched and together with an elongated and white floor sculpture it provides a strikingly minimalist touch in the exhibition. It creates an optimistic atmosphere in which everything still seems possible.
Bert McLean (1998) studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in the period 2020-2023. In 2024 he participated in “Peers and Pairs” at Galerie van Gelder and showed new work at Big Art 2024. Previously, his work was on display at De Bouwput (2023) and Dadasda Manifaesto in London in 2018.
