Ingrid Rollema (1953) is a sculptor and focuses on people. She does this very literally through portraits, but also places them in a political context through 'Theater of Wrong Decisions' (www.TheatreofWrongDecisions.com). The exhibition will feature the complete (video) oeuvre of 'Theater of the Wrong Decisions', together with recent sculptures. Ingrid trained in sculpture in Rotterdam, studied International Law in Leiden and applied Ethics at KU Leuven. She was director of the Vrije Academie The Hague for 8 years. Ingrid's sculptures are spread all over the world, both in public spaces and in private collections. Ingrid has been working with children in war zones in the Middle East for more than 30 years, especially in Gaza. In short: Child, Art, Trauma. She is co-founder of www.HOPE-Foundation.nl. She currently publishes literature from Gaza together with Publishing Office Jurgen Maas.
'Theater of the Wrong Decisions' can be briefly described as a fusion of visual art and theater. It manifests itself in short video productions that critically respond to controversial and sensitive issues in today's world. The video clips always use a verse from Shakespeare. By using Shakespeare quotes, the makers of “Theater of the Wrong Decisions” place current issues of moral importance in a universal perspective. More than 25 artists participated in this impressive production of approximately one hour, which spans 10 years. Proceeds from all sculptures go to HOPE.
