"Hoorne has become one of Belgium's most important graphic artists thanks to his associative talent both in the technical field and in the visual and cultural fields." Willy Van den Bussche (Honorary Chief Curator PMMK, Ostend, +2013)
Emiel Hoorne (1951) finds a lifetime of inspiration in his many working trips to major art cities.
Special places such as Amsterdam, Leipzig, Berlin, Florence, Paris... and especially his beloved City of Istanbul give Hoorne a lifetime of sufficient emotion and inspiration for his graphic work.
His individual exhibition at Gallery Sofie Van den Bussche in Brussels presents a comprehensive package from his internationally renowned graphic oeuvre, including works in screen print, linocut, lithography, digital print, offset print and photography.
Hoorne exhibited at the Museum 'Hedendaagse Kunst' in Utrecht in 1980 and at the 'P.M.M.K' in Ostend in 1992. In 1992, he was the first Belgian Commissioner in the '3rd International Istanbul Biennial' in Istanbul.
In 2000, he was Director of the '25th International Leipziger Grafikbörse' in Dresden, in Leipzig and 2001 in Brussels.
The graphic arts have remained close to Emiel Hoorne's heart since 1972, with 50 years of work under his belt.
