350 x 1018: Especially for the occasion, the long wall of Studio Seine, which measures no less than 350 x 1018 cm. measure, lined from top to bottom with large sheets of paper. Hanna de Haan and Rik Buter will start their joint mission weeks prior to the Rotterdam Museum Night; creating a giant charcoal panorama.
Without a preconceived plan and in complete freedom, the duo creates a unique drawing for which the long wall of Studio Seine forms the canvas. During the organic work process there is room for spontaneity and coincidence and it is allowed to react to each other's work. Work is done for days in complete silence; Adding elements, wiping parts away, scratching over something. The final work is not fixed.
During the Rotterdam Museum Night, on March 4, 2023, Studio Seine will open its doors to the public. How far have the artists progressed in their process? How does the site-specific work relate to the surrounding space? And, as a visitor, what do you pay attention to when the artists are at work live?
After Museum Night Rotterdam, the result of this happening will remain visible during the duo exhibition 350 x 1018. In addition to the environmental work, the exhibition includes a selection of graphics and drawing by both artists.
