ART CENTRAL ROTTERDAM XL: More than 30 art spaces and institutions are joining forces to put Rotterdam in the spotlight of contemporary art.
The third weekend of March, Art Central Rotterdam XL celebrates its second edition with more than 30 art spaces and art institutions opening their exhibitions with extended opening hours to offer a complete program of activities that are free to the public. With a map and a map, the Art Weekend guides the general public through contemporary art in all parts of the city. Art Central Rotterdam XL has the ambition to strengthen the Rotterdam artistic scene not only nationally, but also internationally.
The central exhibition 'SUBJECT: TRANSITION' will be on display at Baanhof, a newcomer to the Rotterdam art scene, as a radiant centerpiece. Curated by curator Anna Buyvid with artworks from all art spaces, the exhibition aims to reflect on transitions in the broadest sense of the word.
The exhibition at Baanhof will be festively opened on 17 March from 20:00 - 01:00. During Art Central Rotterdam XL Art Weekend, Baanhof will be the home port where both the opening and the central exhibition SUBJECT: TRANSITION will take place.
Baanhof is a special location in the heart of Rotterdam. After being out of use for 30 years, it was renovated inside and taken back into use by Studio Robert van Oosterom. The building has several floors, each with its own character and function. The work of Lise Sore will be exhibited at Baanhof and at Studio Seine you can view an enormous panorama made with charcoal by Hanna de Haan and Rik Buter, which is part of their exhibition 350 x 1018.
