Frank Depoorter translates landscape experiences, often gained during walking tours, into art. The artwork is created in the studio. So there is a distance, in time and space, between outside and inside, between experience and art. What happens there, in that interval and space? How does this color the creation? And what happens next when the created work moves from the privacy of the studio to the exhibition? Is there any possible correspondence between the artist's original landscape experience and what the artwork ultimately evokes in the visitor?
