In the summer of 2019 De Lepeleire produced a new series of large paintings: figurative paintings of people in different stages of undress. He called the series 'Black & White', simply because these large paintings - which are in fact very colorful - are painted with black and white paint on backgrounds previously painted in green, neon yellow, bright orange, deep blue or fuchsia pink: it is only by the addition of white and black that these bodies are cut out on the surface of the canvas and appear distinctly to our eyes. These black and white flat tints on colored backgrounds are therefore counterforms - a technique he has already used often, notably in the series entitled Women cut out from 1996. In this show, three large-format works have been added alongside the 2019 works.
