Groupshow with Geoffrey de Beer, Kaspar Dejong and Stijn Stevens.
Painting - what is it? It is infinitely flexible, changeable, authentic, democratic; it succeeds in provoking in terms of content and at the same time in keeping alive the artistic and social discourse around and about art. Repeatedly declared dead, painting is the dominant medium in art that does not seem to disappear and always leads to lively and controversial discussions about its raison d'être.
On the one hand, this exhibition aims to shed light on painting as a medium by definition, but also to conceptualise it in different positions and different media.
The artists Geoffrey de Beer, Mariejon de Jong-Buijs, Kaspar Dejong, Beate Frommelt, Gianin Conrad, Inka ter Haar and Stijn Stevens move medially from drawing to performance to object, without losing sight of the experimental field of painting. Curated by Dr. Isabel Balzer, who will also moderate the talks.
