KETELEER GALLERY is very pleased to present a unique Panamarenko tribute exhibition at Platform 6a in Otegem.
The exhibition will consist of historical works from the Deweer Gallery Estate, including some works from Marc Deweer’s private collection. Deweer gallery worked very closely with Panamarenko for over 40 years and collected numerous iconic works during that time including the legendary 16 meters long Scotch Gambit (1970-1990) aircraft that will be displayed outside. Inside the Platform 6a space, in room 3, a dialogue will take place between Panamarenko and 6 artists represented by the gallery, each related to themes Panamarenko was obsessed with throughout his life: the fascination with flying in the first place, but also the collecting of objects that bear witness to rich bygone pasts. Luc Deleu, for example, was a good friend of Panamarenko. He restored his house on Biekorfstraat, Antwerp and added the now famous helipad, a wonderfully poetic example of how both artists considered the power of uninhibited imagination more important than its practicability. Luc Deleu & T.O.P. office’s model of the Furkapass is shown here for the very first time, a model for a renovation project of an annexe of the Hotel Furka in Switzerland (demolished in 1982) and which was part of the FurkArt project by Marc Hostettler in which Panamarenko, thanks to Deleu’s introduction, also took part. In addition to Luc Deleu & T.O.P. office’s contribution, there will also be work on view by Guillaume Bijl (°1946, Antwerp, BE), Fabien Mérelle (°1981, Fontenay-aux-Roses, FR), Antoine Roegiers (°1980, Braine l’Alleud, BE), Sybren Vanoverberghe (°1996, Ghent, BE) and Lois Weinberger (1947 – 2000, AT).
