In 1985, artist Albert Pepermans was asked to design a poster for Mallemunt, the festival that pumped a lot of music and dashing street theatre into the comatose heart of Brussels. He designed a painting with a single figure, a Mickey mouse who steps out of the picture completely groggy to the music of Mallemunt, a Disney on speed.
A few years later, in the year 2000, artist Albert Pepermans made a series of 200 blue ink paintings for the World’s Fair of that year. These paintings are painted on paper, then stretched on canvas.
“Pepermans is een stroom” is a retrospection on the artist’s work between 1984 and 2001, shooting some key elements of his career.
